The President and Council of the ACT Law Society invites members of the legal profession and the wider community to attend a ceremony to celebrate the beginning of the 2013 legal year — the year of Canberra’s Centenary as well as the 80th anniversary of the ACT Law Society.
This ceremony is a new expression of a traditional event, reflecting the increasingly diverse background of members of the legal profession. The ceremony will provide an opportunity for the legal community to re-dedicate themselves to the principles of the profession, and to reflect on their roles in the justice system.
- 9am, Monday 4 February 2013 at University House, Liversidge Street, ANU
- Robyn Archer AO, Creative Director of The Centenary of Canberra, will deliver the address.
- Music will be provided by the Toe Talatalano Choir.
- Following the ceremony there will be a morning tea.
Judges, Magistrates, and members of the legal profession are invited to enter in procession, forming at 8.50am outside the venue. A robing room will be available.
To facilitate attendance, Courts will not commence sittings before 11am.
- For catering purposes, please RSVP by Wednesday 30 January to Nicole Karman on (02) 6247 5700 or emailnicole.karman@actlawsociety.asn.au
